HAOS is : objects designed and manufactured by two French designers, a couple whose main ambition is the satisfaction of a job well done.
HAOS is : the desire to make an aesthetic statement based on sculptural shapes with refined and minimalist lines, and do so honestly, unpretentiously, with no sacrifice to the trends of the moment.
HAOS is : raw and durable materials, the know-how of French craftsmen, purposely limited quantities and a compulsive attention to detail.
HAOS is the expression of a personal journey, of a shared desire to work on something practical, palpable. Our collaboration started with the design of a single lamp, and soon gave birth to a first collection based on the assembly of ceramic pieces.
It was the first time either of us had worked with the design and production of furniture, and we decided to do it our way by self-producing our creations. As a result, HAOS objects come to life with no compromise in the production process, in keeping with our initial ambition.
Our work lies between design and craftsmanship. Managing the manufacturing of our own creations, we get to meet craftsmen very early in the design process. HAOS objects are hence designed, right from the first sketches, with the support of outside eyes trained by dozens of years of experience working with a single material.
The ceramic pieces are produced in Normandy. More than ten production steps are necessary between the moulding and the last ring. The brass pieces are shaped near Paris, on spinning machines dating back to the early 20th century, before being polished and varnished. Lastly, the glass globes are mouth-blown in a wooden mold and then sandblasted by hand.
